About the story…

Antonio can’t wait to celebrate his favourite Italian holiday with his new friends in Fremantle, Western Australia. But when he discovers his friends know nothing about the Epiphany and the magical Befana, Antonio wonders, ‘is the Befana coming to Fremantle?’

Join Antonio and his friends as he sets off on a journey around Fremantle to find out the true meaning of this special occasion.

Arrivera la Befana a Fremantle? (Is the Befana coming to Fremantle?) is an original bi-lingual story by Daniele Foti-Cuzzola and Daniela Pruiti Ciarello, that celebrates Italian traditions and culture but is simultaneously uniquely Western Australian.

About the author…

Daniele Foti-Cuzzola is a Perth-based writer, creative consultant, home cook and presenter based in Perth, Western Australia.

Inspired by his Italian heritage and the storytellers around his family table, Daniele has built a career where he focuses predominately on creating and sharing food and cultural related content.

Throughout his career Daniele has written for multiple publicaitons inlcuding The Sunday Times, Perth Now, Scoop, Scenestr, Segmento and The Record and has shared his family recipes on the Netflix’s The Chefs’ Line, Channel Nine’s The Morning Show and Foxtel’s The Couch. Daniele has also appeared on ABC 720, 6PR FM and Mix 94.5 FM, where he has shared cooking tips and advice and he can currently be seen presenting West Australian Opera and Visit Perth’s brand new digital series Cooking with Opera.

About the Illustrator…

Daniela Pruiti-Ciarello is a Perth-based illustrator, author, graphic designer and teacher.

Born in Sicily, Daniela studied fine arts at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Palermo before moving to Australia in 2008, where she completed a Diploma in Graphic Design at Central Tafe and a Diploma of Teaching and Learning at Charles Darwin University.

Throughout her career, Daniela has incorporated her passion for art and design with her love of her homeland, and has worked as an Italian and Arts teacher in both primary and secondary schools.

In 2017, Daniela released her debut children’s book, Il Macinino Magico (The Magic Peppermill) which she wrote and illustrated. Arrivera La Befana a Fremantle? (Is the Befana coming to Fremantle?) is her long-awaited follow-up book.
